Australia
Sydney
In 2009 we spent 2 days exploring Sydney - walking around the famous opera house, strolling through the free Royal Botanic Garden, crossing the Sydney Harbor Bridge, checking out Manly Beach to the north of downtown, and Bondi beach to the south.
Cairns
It’s an easy flight from Sydney to Cairns and we enjoyed 3 wonderful nights at Paradise on the Beach Resort in Palm Cove, just 20 min north of Cairns. We had fun renting a car with the steering wheel on the opposite side (from what we’re used to). We did the Skyrail Rainforest Cable Car, which included ample opportunity to get out and hike a bit. The highlight of our time here was taking a boat tour with Silversonic Dive & Snorkel out to the Great Barrier Reef for a couple of scuba dives, and a snorkel.
Summary
We always tell people who ask about Australia - it was a long time ago, and we weren’t there for many days, but we truly enjoyed all the people we met, and the places we visited there. We wouldn’t hesitate to go back - hopefully with the ability to spend more time and explore more of this beautiful country!
